Javier Reyes wins title in his home country

Bogota, Colombia-Colombia Javier Reyes (17-3) returned home after five years and defeated Stiven “Pantro” Valencia (7-4) to win the featherweight world championship as Combate Global held it’s first event in South America since the pandemic.
Combate Global alongside the Colombian promotion MatchMaker held an event live from Bogota, Colombia Friday.
Also on the card, Alexis “El Juggernaut” Campos (4-0) finished Dominican Republic’s Carlos “Captain America” Santana (2-1) in 45 seconds of the first round.
Moreover, in the main card, Andres “Doble A” Leal (4-7) defeated Jeffry “The Bullet” Gil (15-11) to win the welterweight championship in the first round at 1:14 by way of technical knockout.
Reyes vs Valencia
The number one featherweight in Combate Global, fought in his country for the first time since 2018. His experience and well roundedness proved he was too much for Valencia, a regional champion.
Reyes wrestled his opponent in the first round, but Valencia managed to escape. However, in the second round, Reyes pinned Valencia to la jaula where he landed several shots. Valencia just couldn’t figure out how to get out and the refree stepped in to the call the fight.
In the end, Reyes took the world championship and left Valencia with a bloody ear.
Campos vs Santana
It took Campos 46 seconds to defeat Santana. The Venezuelan exchanged with the Dominican where he landed a tight right hook coming with a lot of power knocking down Santana straight to the canvass. Campos followed with additional shots, but referee stepped in to call the fight. However, Campos did not obtain the belt because he did not make weight.
Also, unlike their first meeting, Gil and Leal didn’t go the distance as the fight came to an end at 1:14 of the first round.
Leal, who has competed for Combate Global, connected with a straight left that took Gil to the canvas where he quickly landed additional shots. The referee had seen enough and a battered Gil was handed a defeat. Leal took the world championship.

Dumar Roa defeated Jon Zarate by unanimous decision.
Juan Pablo Mendoza defeated Harry Gomez by unanimous decision.
Nicolas Bojaca defeated Ronald Vasquez by technical knockout in the first round at 11 seconds.
Andres Leal defeated Jeffry Gil by technical knockout in the first round at 1:14.
Alexis Campos defeated Carlos Santana by 46 seconds of the first round.
Javier Reyes defeated Stiven Valencia at 4:36 of the second round.
