Newly signed Combat Global fighter Jharely “La Bestia” Reyes, 20, is willing to test herself to the next level and her desire to push herself landed her a shot to step inside la jaula this upcoming season.
Reyes will step inside la jaula later this season when Combate Global returns March 24 to the airwaves.
The youngster was practically born into martial arts starting off with karate at the age of four.
“At 14 years-old I competed almost all the time and would win first or second place so as I got older I felt I need more so I tried jiu jitsu. Then, I just added more and I become involved with mixed martial arts. When I received my black belt in karate, my brother and myself enrolled in mma,” she said.
She trains with the Blackxicans where fellow Combate Global fighters likes of Choko Castillo, Ernesto Ibarra, Carlos Reyes (her brother), and Cristian “Puas” Perez all train.
When she is not training, she is hitting the books studying nutrition at la Universidad Vizcaya Campus Tijuana. Or, she ventures into the world of horseback riding and takes practices gymnastics.
In her fight skill, she says you can see a lot of kick knowing that she has a strong background in karate, but she is not shy of displaying her jiu jitsu game.
But, her life has not been all sunshine and butterflies. Early in her life, her mother had a disease and doctors advised that she might not have a successful operation. However, her mother overcame the difficulty and today remains healthy and well. Her mother had an appendix rupture.
Although her goal is to supersede in la jaula, she has other goals in life.
“I want to by my own house and provide enough so my father won’t need to work. It is one of my biggest goals since his job dangerous.
Her father works with vehicles.
