Miami, FLIvan “Choko” Castillo (23-17) put an end to his losing streak earning a win over Santiago “The Scorpion King” Guzman (7-3) by unanimous decision at last night’s CG 2023 August 19: Castillo vs Guzman main event.

Also, Claudia Villalobos (2-0) defeated Kristina Pettigrew (4-3) by way of unanimous.

Castillo flipped the script on his record picking up a win. Currently, he was on four fight winning streak that dates to April 2022. Guzman wanted to strike throughout the fight, but it was Castillo’s experience and wrestling that made the change in the fight.

In the second round, there were opportunities for Castillo to submit the Colombian by rear naked choke. However, Guzman transitioned to escape.

Castillo did not let go and made it nearly impossible for Guzman to escape.

Towards the end of the last round, there was ten-second exchange in striking to put an end to the bout.

At the end of the fight, a teary eyed Castillo said he dedicated his fight to his father and promised him a win.

In the co-main event, Pettigrew was conservative throughout the fight and did not let go of her offense. Villalobos took advantage of the situation and out smarted the veteran.

Villalobos jab and quick foot movement made it difficult for Pettigrew to get her in the clinch or on the ground.

In only her second professional mixed marital arts fight, Villalobos showed and exceptional takedown defense.

She had the right strategy versus a bigger and stronger opponent using the stiff jab and hooks.

Also, Chris Renteria (4-2) defeated Noah Lindsey (4-1) putting an end to his undefeated streak.

Right from the start, Renteria went for the takedown and Lindsey took a beating hoping to grab something to submit him.

In the second chapter of the fight, Renteria played the same game going for the takedown and working the ground and pound.

Renteria, who is now training with the Ultimate Kombat Fitness, credit his transition of gyms that earned him the victory.
