Palacios is one of the most successful fighters on Combate Americas’ roster, managing to retain an impeccable 6-0 record inside the circular cage, including two technical knockouts. The Texas native is looking for his seventh consecutive victory in Combate Americas and could increase his current win-streak from eight to nine.
“El Gallero‘s” last two bouts have been outside of Combate Americas, but he has performed well, including an outstanding TKO victory last November. Palacios has not stepped into “La Jaula” since July 2017, when he won via unanimous decision over Chris Avila in Combate Clasico, an impressive feat after a horrible first round.

Defending his home state and undefeated Combate Americas’ record, Palacios will have to face the promotion’s new acquisition, Cooper Gibson, the identical twin brother of Chase Gibson, who is already on the Combate Americas’ roster. The Californian fighter demolished the regional circuits, with finishes for six out of nine victories, including four via submission. Gibson will make his debut with Combate Americas coming off a victory via unanimous decision last year in California.
Cooper took a time off between 2013 and 2017 after his second professional defeat but began fighting again early last year. The time off seemed to help, as he placed himself in the win-column and stayed that way throughout the year. He trains at California Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness with his brother Chase in California, and he has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This is a highly anticipated fight, thanks to the clash of styles of these two warriors. Gibson, a skilled grappling fighter with most of his victories coming by way of submission, will face Palacios, who is not intimidated by anything and has knockout power in both hands.

However, Palacios has not fought in the featherweight division since his first fight inside Combate Amercias in December 2013, when he won a second round TKO victory over Matt Wagy in Combate Americas: Level vs. Arzeno. Although Palacios has technically fought as many times at 135 pounds as at 155 pounds, this weight change is a factor that could affect the fight.
“TS-1 Promotions presents: Combate Americas Hidalgo” will be held Friday, June 21, and will be broadcast live on Spanish television in the U.S. both on Univision (12 am ET / PT) and UDN (12 am ET / 9 pm PT), as well as in English in USA and Canada on DAZN (11 pm ET / 8 p.m. PT).
