Cooper Gibson (9-2), will be facing Ricky “El Gallero” Palacios (11-1) in the main event of  «TS- 1 Promotions presents: Combate Americas Hidalgo,»  taking place next weekend in Texas.  Gibson is more than ready for the fight.

Gibson is a veteran of the California regional scene, with a winning streak of seven fights over the course of three years, including three wins by submission and two by TKO.  After his second professional defeat in 2013, he decided to take a break from MMA.  His five year hiatus has left him stronger than ever and helped to give him his two victories last year.

His unusual career trajectory brought him to the attention of Combate Americas, where his identical twin brother, Chase Gibson, is also under contract.

“It’s great to be part of the same promotion as my brother”, said Cooper Gibson. “When we first talked about it, we were hoping we could fight on the same card; it’s not how it turned out, but it was great news”.

The brothers shared not only a love of combat sports but also a difficult childhood.

“I think what separates me from your average fighter or just your regular person is that me and my brother grew up in the system”, C. Gibson said. “From like 13 to 18 we where probably only home for about a year, year and a half and that included like juvenile hall, camps. Just being separated like that made us different”.

With their eyes set firmly on the future, the Gibsons came to Combate Americas with one mission: to put their name on top of the MMA world. This task begins this weekend when C. Gibson faces one of the biggest stars inside the promotion in the «TS-1 Promotions presents: Combate Americas Hidalgo.»

“I thrive when I have more pressure” C. Gibson said about being part of the main event. “So I am excited to fight a guy like Ricky who’s established himself as a top contender in Combate. It feels great”.

“What I am bringing to the table for Combate is my experience, my grit, my heart” said C. Gibson. “I have a Jiu Jitsu that hasn’t been seen, and I can stand and bang and knock anybody out. So I am excited to showcase that”.

Certainly, C. Gibson’s Jiu Jitsu will be one of the most important weapons in his fight against Palacios, who is a proven knockout artist. Cooper is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt and won gold in the 2016 Sjjif World No Gi Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

As for his preparation for one of the most important fights of his career, C. Gibson says he is not doing anything “out of the ordinary.” He believes that CMMA Fitness, the gym where he trains with his brother, has given him all the tools necessary to win Friday night.

“[The only thing] unique for my preparation [is] where I train and who I train with” he said. “We have champions here [in my gym], some of the best professionals in the country. On any given day. we have twenty of the best guys. So it’s not necessarily that I am doing anything different; it’s just the quality of people I am training with”.

C. Gibson will face Palacios, a guy who has yet to know defeat inside “La Jaula,” who is currently coming from an overwhelming TKO victory last November. However, the Californian is confident that he will win.

“My goal is to go in there, not get hit, smash him out and f*#% keep it moving”.
