MIAMI July 19, 2023 – COMBATE GLOBAL and UNIVISION today announced that the Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports franchise produced its largest viewership in history with its latest live UNIVISION-televised event on Sunday, July 16.

In a 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT time slot on Sunday, COMBATE GLOBAL’s 90-minute program on UNIVISION garnered a franchise record of 1.283 million live P2+ viewers. That total number includes 708,000 viewers – over 55 percent of the total audience – in the coveted A1849 demographic, according to Nielsen research.

The event, “COMBATE GLOBAL: El Showdown”, was the number two program in primetime on Sunday in the A1849 demographic, regardless of language, and the ninth most watched sporting event all week in the A1849 demographic.

“COMBATE GLOBAL has built a huge proprietary audience of fans that are new to the sport of MMA, and the viewership figures for our latest show amplifies this fact,” said COMBATE GLOBAL CEO Campbell McLaren.

“COMBATE GLOBAL: El Showdown” featured a lineup of all Mexico vs. USA bouts, including the featherweight (145 pounds) main event between Roberto “El Charro Negro” Romero (7-2-1) of Chihuahua, Chih., Mex. and Justin “Slick J” Vazquez (10-3) of Miami.

The event also featured a bantamweight (135 pounds) matchup between Ismael “Kraken” Zamora (7-2) of Mexico City, Mex. and Adam “Kid Solo” Ortiz (5-1) of Tucson, Ariz.

COMBATE GLOBAL’s next live UNIVISION televised event takes place on Saturday, Aug. 5. The event will feature the MMA debut of Mexican reality television star and singer, Jawy Mendez, as well as a lineup of established MMA stars that will be announced soon.
