NEW YORK and MIAMI – May 17, 2021 – Combate Global and Univision Communications Inc. today announced the complete lineup for their next Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event on Friday, May 21, live on Univision (12 a.m. ET/PT) and TUDN USA (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT) in the U.S. and on TUDN MX (11 p.m. local time) in Mexico from Univision’s studios in Miami, Fla.
The show will also re-air in Mexico on Televisa Nueve the following day, Saturday, May 22 at 5 p.m. local time.
In the lightweight (155 pounds) main event, undefeated, fast-rising Mexican star Cristian “Puas” Perez (4-0) will take on hard-hitting American Brian “The Bad Boy” Del Rosario (5-4).
Hailing from Ensenada, B.C., the 25-year-old Perez’s speedy return to La Jaula, the Combate Global cage, comes just four weeks after his stunning, 29-second submission (heel hook) of Geraldo Almonte on April 23. The quick finish marked Perez’s second consecutive first round submission victory.
In addition to his place in the MMA world, the 31-year-old Del Rosario of Northridge, Calif. is the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Welterweight Muay Thai Champion, a title he captured on August 18, 2019 after scoring a second round knockout on Joe Davidson with a knee strike to the face.
Del Rosario, who miraculously overcame a horrific motorcycle accident that left him hospitalized during the latter part of 2019, has earned all of his MMA victories to date by way of (T)KO or submission.
In a featured welterweight (170 pounds) contest, Marcos “El Lobo” Lloreda (9-6) of Miami will face off with Luis “Sicario” Iniguez (3-1) of Portland, Ore.
Making their respective professional debuts against each other in a flyweight (125 pounds) bout, Blanca Marquez (0-0) of Las Vegas, Nev. will meet Mariel Celimen (0-0) of Miami.
Carlos “El Rey” Puente, Jr. (6-4) will battle Edir “Belico” Terry (6-4) in a bantamweight (135 pounds) affair.
A lightweight preliminary bout will pit Daniel “The Android” Matos (4-3) of Tampa, Fla. against Danny “The Realist” Ramirez (6-7) of El Dorado Hills, Calif.
