Official Results – Combate Americas: Tucson Unbreakable, Alday redeems and García remains unbeaten

The Casino del Sol was filled to capacity with the return of Combate Americas’ former champion, Mexican José “Pochito” Alday (13-4-1), who was facing Argentine Juan Pablo “El Molo” González (7-3-2) in the main event of the evening, a fight that meant redemption to both fighters.
“Combate Americas: Tucson Unbreakable, presented by Cricket Wireless” took place at Casino del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, and was broadcasted live in the United States in Spanish on Univision and UDN, and in English in the United States and Canada on DAZN.
In the first round, Alday was dancing around with quick and pinpoint strikes, landing jabs and hooks with his left hand, while González showed a pretty good chin and closed the round strong with a flurry of strikes, putting the former champion in trouble.

The second round consisted of the same medicine. Alday landed most of his punches, specially, his left hook. On the other hand, González tried a few takedowns with no luck.

Finally, Alday took the fight via unanimous decision in a fight that could be awarded with “Fight of the Night” honors.
The Co-main event was also filled with emotions, when Rafa “Gifted” Garcia (10-0) was seeking to retain his undefeated record, facing the most difficult task in his career: Mixed Martial Arts veteran Estevan “El Terrible” Payán (17-13).

With impressive pressure, Garcia repeatedly connected on Payan and sent him to the floor, where he managed to take the back masterfully, inserted both hooks in and finished the fight with a rear naked choke at 4:50 of the very first round.

It is the tenth victory of the Mexicali native, who so far has finished 5 of his 6 fights within Combate Americas, and now has three first round finishes.
Others who performed well were Yazmin Jauregui and Javier “Chunty Boy” Torres, who finished their bouts in the second round.
