Miami, FL– Mexico’s David “The Black Spartan” Martinez (10-1) retained his title after defeating Peru’s Jose Zarauz (23-10-1) by technical knockout by way of a spinning back kick in the fourth round in the main event of CG 2023 May 28: Martinez vs Zaraus.

Also, Maritza Sanchez earned another victory defeating Fernanda Marrufo (2-2) by way technical knockout in the second round.

Martinez vs Zaraua

The champion started the fight differently with a slow pace not switching stances or landing rapid fists and kicks as he is used to. However, Zaraua capitalized on it and took the champion down a few times, but to no result.

There were exchanges from the two, but clearly Martinez was victorious going in to the fourth round.

It was in the third, where Martinez’s corner told him to work the low kicks and the high kick will come. Rightfully so, at 4:17 Martinez landed a spinning back kick right to the right temple of Zarauz leaving fans in the Univision Studio on their fight.

Martinez extended his winning streak to six with all of those wins coming by way of stoppage minus one, which he won by unanimous decision.

Sanchez vs Marrufo

Sanchez continued to wreck her opponents in la jaula making it look simple.

Right from the start, Sanchez was offensive. Marrufo landed some shots but Sanchez was just too powerful as she landed shots from top to bottom.

In the clinch, Sanchez landed several elbows and knees.

Sanchez switched levels taking Marrufo to the ground in the first round, but not enough time left to finish the fight. Sanchez had to wait for the second round where she took Marrufo down and later worked from the ground and pound forcing the refree to stop the fight at 1:36 in the second round.

In a featured fight, Tony Cortez (1-0) made his professional debut and defeated Jose Ferreri (0-3). Cortez had a lot of hype coming into the fight and he lived up to it dominating his opponent right from the start. He took the win in the first round submitting his opponent by way of rear naked choke at 1:44.

Caroline Gallardo defeated Sara Cova by way of technical knockout in third round at 2:29.

Javier Reyes defeated Jordan Beltran by way of rear naked choke in the first round at 4:24.

Tony Cortez defeated Jose Ferreri by way of rear naked choke in the first round at 1:44.

Martiza Sanchez defeated Fernanda Marrufo by techincal knockout in the second round.

David Martinez defeated Jose Zaraus by knockout 4:17.
