Miami, FL– David Martínez (9-1) survived Axel Osuna (5-2) and retained his Bantamweight Championship title.

Both men met in the main event for CG 2022: Combate Global World Bantamweight Championship.

Martinez defeated Osuna by technical knockout at 4:14 in the fourth round.

In the first and second round, Martinez was too powerful connecting with fast hands and kicks. He had a field day connecting low kicks that left Osuna’s legs bruised.

Osuna attempted to put pressure on Martinez but the champion was too fast on his feet. However, Osuna did attack the body laying punches. He also went for takedowns but Martinez had great defense.

In the third round, that is when the tables turned for Osuna. He connected with a kick that sent Martinez straight to the floor. He then searched for a submission and worked on the ground and pound. Yet, Osuna couldn’t finish the fight and Martinez survived the onslaught.

After taking much punishment, in the first, second and until the third round, Osuna planned on concluding the fight but carrying on from where he left off in the third round. But it was Martinez who scooped Osuna’s leg and took him down. He pinned him to la jaula where he connected several shots. The referee had seen enough and stepped in to stop the fight.

Martinez is now enjoying a five fight-winning streak.

In a featured fight, Washington’s Diana Sanchez (1-0) had a successful professional debut defeating kickboxer Damari Olivares (0-1).

Right at the bell, Sanchez went for the takedown. Sanchez could not get on the offense. Sanchez made it difficult as Olivares gave her back. Soon after, Sanchez capitalized and sneaked in the rear naked choke at 2:04 in the first round.

In a back-and-forth fight, Gillian Noll defeated Spain’s Aitana Alvarez by way of split decision.
