Torres vs Jimenez: A High Voltage Clash In Tucson
October 2, 2019
On Friday, October 11th, Combate Americas will return to Tucson, Arizona, with an incredibly exciting card, featuring Jose “Pochito” Alday (13-4-1) and Joby Sanchez (12-5) in the main event.
Another great fight will see Guillermo “Memo” Torres (3-0) facing Orlando Jiménez (2-0). These two bantamweights are highly accomplished wrestlers and are both undefeated.
Torres, a native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, has won all of his professional fights in MMA, after debuting in March 2018. In his time in Combate Americas, the Guadalajara warrior has defeated Mario Tena and Caleb Moctezuma.
In the field of wrestling, Torres won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara (2011), which qualified him for the London Olympic Games (2012).
Jiménez, who trains in the renowned Alliance MMA team along with Gastón Reyno, Jeremy Stephens, among others; remains undefeated after beating Joey Trevino and Jesse Orta via TKO.
In wrestling, Jiménez has won twice the National Freestyle/Grappling Championship and the NoGi World Championship, as well as the silver medal in the national Freestyle Wrestling championship.
This duel presents an interesting matchup, where two undefeated fighters, with strong wrestling backgrounds, will face each other in ‘La Jaula,’ Combate Americas’ circular cage.
The Combate Americas event in Tucson will be broadcast live on U.S. television through Univision (12 a.m. ET / PT) and TUDN (12 a.m. ET / 9 p.m. PT) from the AVA Amphitheater at Casino del Sol.
