One of the worlds best lightweight fighter is bringing all his power and technique to “La Jaula” in the main event of Combate Mexicali card.

Combate Americas will feature an incredible 10-bouts card featuring the best talent inside the Mixed Martial Arts universe. Combate Mexicali will take place tonight (Feb 8) at 10:00 PM ET / 9:00 PM CT / 7:00 PM PT in “Auditorio del Estado de Mexicali”, in Mexicali, Baja California and will be streamed live in English exclusively on DAZN for the US and Canada.

The main event of the evening is a lightweight bout between undefeated phenom, Rafa “Gifted” García (8-0), and young rising star Edgar “Nasty Boy” Escárrega (5-2-1).

García, a 24-year-old fighter from Mexicali, has been nothing short of remarkable thus far. Thanks to his fighting arsenal and ground game, he is undefeated in his professional career with a current 8-0 win streak. He was the winner of the first Combate Americas open try-outs of 2016 in Los Angeles, CA; with his strong wrestling background, this fighter has 6 of his 8 victories coming by way of submission, adding 5 finishes inside the first round.

Gifted” is coming off a first-round KO victory over LaRue Bradley in Combate Americas: Alday vs. Lopez in September. On top of that, he has finished 3 of his 4 fights inside “La Jaula”.

Escárrega, who turns 30 tomorrow, has a great opportunity in his hands as he will look to impose his will and get a win over García in his Combate Americas’ debut. “Nasty Boy”, from Ensenada, Baja California, is coming from a 4-win streak with two finishes by TKO, one of them in the first round.

The co-main event will feature hometowm favorite Edgar Pitbull Chairez (4-1) facing José Alejandro Salazar (0-2) from Playas de Rosarito, Baja California.

Chairez, 23, has a well-rounded game complemented by his fighting IQ. He is coming from a loss to Axel Osuna in Combate Americas: Batalla de Guadalajara, but before that setback, he was riding a 3-win streak. Alll of them were finishes in the very first round.

Salazar, meanwhile, started his pro career as a bantamweight and now will go down to flyweight trying to capture his first win as a professional in his Combate Americas’ debut.

But, the action is not limited to the featured bouts of the main card; we will also have a submission specialist Alex Velasco (7-3) facing Javier Reyes Rugeles (8-2).

Velasco, a Team Blackxicans product with a 7-3 record is coming to “La Jaula” for his fourth fight inside the promotion. “Bam Bam” has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has fished 6 of his 7 victories via submission.

Rugeles, a pro fighter since 2014, is coming from a win outside Comabe Americas and feels ready to get his first win inside “La Jaula”. The Colombian suffered a loss in his Combate Americas’ debut and now plans to set things right.
