Miami, FL– After facing first defeat in his professional career, last year’s Combate Global “Fighter of the Year” Cristian “Púas” Perez makes his return to la jaula against a powerful Santana Guedes of Spain in the Main event of CG2022 April 22: Perez vs Guedes.

Also, two undefeated Female fighters Diana Mendoza (2-0) and Daniela Hernandez (2-0) will battle in the co-main event in the atom weight division.

Perez vs Guedes

In November, Perez suffered his first professional loss against Enrique Gonzalez in the USA vs Mexico tournament finals.

Perez was not as explosive in the finals compared to how he competed against other opponents he faced in the first and second round of the tournament which included Irish rising star Patrick Lehane.

Gonzalez wrestled Perez not allowing him to search for any submissions.

However, Perez learned from his mistakes and will be refreshed as he is only fighting one opponent instead of three in one night.

Look for Perez to entertain exchanging in the center of la jaula to test the waters with Guedes, but he needs to be cautious as the Spaniard packs cement blocks in his hands.

Footwork and cutting angles will benefit Perez forcing Guedes to move. However, Perez has the key to a victory with his ground game garnering five wins in seven months last year and the majority coming to an end by submission.

However, Guedes earned five of his eight professional career victories by way of submission.

Expect him to also explore his groundwork. Forcing Perez to wrestle could benefit Guedes as we saw holes in Perez’s fight game against Gonzalez.

If he can control the wrestling and transition as often to prevent Perez to nail a submission, Guedes could be going home with a win. If not, he can rely on the standup forcing Perez to trade in the pocket.

Hernandez vs Mendoza

Mendoza heavily relied on her overhand right to defeat her previous opponent. She will be the shorter of the two in this week’s coming fight.

Footwork and cutting angles could open opportunities to land the heavy right hand. If it comes powerful enough, chances are she could go home with a knockout victory, her first in her professional career.

As for Hernandez, she has the advantage in height and her wrestling skills could be the difference in this fight.

The decorated wrestler also has hands to exchange, but look for her to trade blows in the opening of the fight with potentially settling on her wrestling where she could submit her foe, if available.
