John Sweeney puts the breaks on Copa Combate shot for Nicaragua

Miami, FL – South Carolina’s John Sweeney (9-4) dampen Nicaragua’s Leonardo “Chimmy” Morales (11-5) shot at being part of this year’s Copa Combate, which takes place December 12.
Sweeney defeated Morales by way of unanimous decision. Unlike his Combate debut, Morales was not as active.
First Round
Morales landed a jab that struck Sweeney. Morales later landed a couple of inside kicks.
Sweeney went for a combination, which Morales responded with his own.
Morales again landed a hard kick to the inside leg which left it bruised.
Second Round
Sweeney landed a body shot. Morales circled, but Sweeney landed more shots. Sweeney played mind games throughout the round. At the end of the round, screamed, “let’s go it’s my cage” as he felt confident.
Third Round
Morales attempted a takedown, but it was ineffective. But Morales did land a strong left connecting with Sweeney’s chin.
Unlike his Combate Global, Morales was stationary and didn’t throw much of his hands. Sweeney took advantage and targeted his shots.
Jair Perez (6-2) defeated Shaheen Santana (6-2) by Split Decision
First Round
The bout started with an inadvertent kick to the mid-section by Santana. Santana landed kicks, while Perez landed his hands. However, Perez grabbed Santana’s leg and inadvertently kicked him the mid-section.
Second Round
Perez started the round landing kicks. Santana again inadvertently kicked Perez in the mid-section. After Perez, took some time to recuperate, both men continued landing combinations.
Santana threw a right hook, but Perez caught his leg and landed a knee in the clinch.
Third Round
Mid way in the last round, Santana tripped Perez and attempted to land a guillotine, but had no success.
With a few seconds left in the last round, Perez threw several shots, however, Santana also responded a few kicks. The ending of the round concluded with both fighters throwing everything from their arsenal.
Ivan Tena (3-0) defeated Tim Cuamba (3-1) at 3:29 in the first round by way of rear naked choke.
First round
The first round started with both fighters exchanging blows. In a desperate move, Cuamba went for the takedown, but Tena landed heavy elbows breaking his foe down.
Eventually, Cuamba took Tena down, but it wasn’t for long. In another attempt for takedown, Cuambo was met with a hard defense from Tena, where managed to sneak in a darce choke. Later, he transition and landed a rear naked choke to end the fight.
