Jimbo Slice finishes opponent in 16 seconds to remain undefeated
July 3, 2023
Miami, FL– It took more time for Jimmie Pace Jr. (3-0) also known as “Jimbo Slice” to walk to la jaula than finishing his opponent in the main event of Combate Global 2023 July: Pace vs Garcia.
Pace defeated Spain’s Boris Garcia (2-2) by way of technical knockout at 16 seconds of the first round.
Also, Lupe Mateo (1-1) earned her first win as a professional defeating Spain’s Mariana Rodriguez (0-1) by way of unanimous decision.
In addition to the women’s fight, Elias Garcia (9-3)remains undefeated in la jaula defeating Diego Ortis (10-5) by way of split decision.
Pace vs Garcia
Boris called for a striking fight, but Pace countered with some shots and quickly transitioned for the takedown.
However, from the clinch, Pace threw a left hook that sent Garcia straight to the ground. He followed up with a tomahawk shot, but Garcia was already out.
Pace remains undefeated and has less than six minutes of action as a professional in his three fights.
The fastest knockout belongs to Moses Diaz at six seconds.
Combate Global’s CEO Campbell McLaren stated that Marcos Lloreda might be a potential opponent for Pace in the near future.
Mateo vs Rodriguez
Mateo learned from her previous fight. She understood takedown defense and landing some takedowns of her own could be the difference.
The hard work paid off as any attempt of a takedown by Rodriguez was shut down.
However, Rodriguez excelled in her professional debut going toe-to-toe with Mateo and she never held back.
She was creative landing spinning back fists and shots to the body, but it wasn’t enough as Mateo’s standup up was on point and effective throughout the hree rounds of battle.
Garcia vs Ortiz
Garcia’s experience resonated and excelled in his split decision victory. He remains undefeated in Combate Global.
Ortiz debut in la jaula was impressive, showing resiliency. He managed to cut his opponent, but he too received a large gash right above the left eyebrow.
Ortiz low kick and punches didn’t do much to convince the judges to take the fight. Garcia was more effective especially connecting several times with the front kick.
Combate Global returns next week July 8.
