Miami, FL– Irish fighter Deirdre Begley was bullied, but not for the most common reasons.

Newly Combate Global signed fighter Begley (1-1) will make her debut inside la jaula this season when Combate Global returns to the airwaves starting March 24.

The Irish flyweight started kickboxing at an early age, however, people made comments that weren’t kind to her decision and pursuit of a successful fighting career.

“I was bullied because I was fighting and I wasn’t a ‘normal girl’,” she said. “And, I guess it’s probably an extreme to say that I’m bullied today, I meant that I meet people similar to that who don’t agree with what I’m doing and think I should be more ‘normal’.”

Today, she has set the comments aside and the past is now on her rear-view mirror as the SBG Ireland fighter has her eyes on climbing the ladder to be the best women’s flyweight in Combate Global. SBG Ireland is also home to Copa Combate 2021 winner Frans Mlambo.

The black belt kickboxer, who also has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, has two professional mixed martial arts bouts in her fighting resume. Her last fight was in June 2021 where she knocked out her opponent.

Her skills are elite thanks to training with John Kavanah, trainer for former world champion Conor McGregor.

But don’t be fooled by the action she will bring to the jaula as she packs a punch with her brain. She obtained a degree in mathematics and Irish language, Gaeilge, from the University College of Cork.

The Irishwoman will be a force to be reckon with as she brings a long list of accolades in combat sports going 7-3 in her amateur career and winning the bronze medal in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) in 2018.

There’s no doubt Begley will be bringing mucho mas accion (MMA) inside la jaula in 2022.
