Miami, FL– After falling short of winning an eight-man tournament in November, mixed martial arts top prospect Cristian “Puas” Perez (8-1) said he learned from his lone loss and the defeat is now in the past.
Combate Global’s (CG) very own fighter and commentator Eduardo “El Pube” Alvardo sat down to speak to Cristian “Puas” Perez, 22, about his life as a fighter, his up bringing and what fans can anticipate in 2022.
Perez entered the eight-man November USA vs Mexico tournament undefeated, until Enqrique “baby bull” Gonzalez defeated the 22-year-old by unanimous decision.
Although it was his first loss in his professional career, Perez said the defeat was not a set back but a motivation.
“Many people sent me messages, but for me I always heard it from my parents a champion is not one who always wins. It is one who falls and finds a way to climb to the top to become champion. That’s the life I want to accomplish.”

Perez made his CG debut back in February 2019 defeating Saul Cabrera by way of rear naked choke in the third round.
In April, he submitted his opponent Geraldo Almonte by 29 seconds in the first round. He took on notable names such up-and-coming Patrick Lehane and Alfrego Ruelas last year, as well. He defeated them all.
He credits his coaches for teaching him what he needs to be victorious.
“I’ve had a lot of coaches at every gym I have been whether it is in Mexicali, Ensenada or Miami, I always respect them as a coach because they earned it. To me, I won’t stop learning till the day I die because you never know you might learn a technique that will help you win a fight,” he said.
The 2021 CG fighter of the year, has been training in Miami with the GOAT Shed Academy where he has tested himself and improved his wrestling skills.
“The level of fighters when you leave your comfort zone, region or country you meet other people representing their country. Training with the best,” he said. “When you get to a new gym you come in as the new guy and you build yourself up. You want to continue to be at the of the podium.”
