Horacio got his nickname “The Punisher” by establishing himself as one of the premier knockout artists in the Midwest. He actually started training MMA just as a hobby and got into a lot of street fights. When he realized he was good at it, he decided to pursue a real coach who could help develop his skills. After winning his first featherweight tournament, Horacio knew that he was meant to become an MMA fighter. Some of the other fighters in the industry that he admires are longtime veterans Nick and Nate Diaz, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway, and international superstar Conor McGregor, among others. Anyone who steps into the cage earns Horacio’s respect. Horacio was a former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) in Latin America but came up short in the finals.
When he’s not fighting or working in the gym as a trainer, Horacio likes to have fun and keep himself busy. Some of his favorite activities include riding go-karts, playing mini golf, and skiing. His family is his support system, including his parents and his brothers Luis and Adrian. They cheer him on and come to all his fights. It was a big moment for him to sign with Combate Americas because he gets to represent Mexico and fight for a Hispanic promotion, something that brings honor to his name and heritage. Fighting is “in his blood” and he loves the thrill of competition. Horacio wants to become Combate Americas champion after the featherweight tournament this fall and is not afraid to accept the toughest fights they can offer. He is confident in his skills and wants to become a household name both stateside and abroad.
