BIO
•Son of Arizona’s MMA Pioneer Martín Escobar
•BJJ Brown Belt
•Former competitive wrestler
•Took nickname “El Toro” from his father
•Started doing Jiu-Jitsu at age 6
Back in mid-90’s when MMA was growing up in the United States, his father fought in Arizona in the very first cage fight and his nickname back then was ‘El Toro’, which means ‘The Bull’. So Levi took his father’s nickname and wants to honor him through his career.
Having a father who was a fighter was good for him, never pushed him to take it seriously, it was Levi’s
decision to pursue this dream. Started doing Jiu-Jitsu at 6-years-old and then took it seriously at 10/13 years old. He really started to fall in love with jiu-jitsu and getting interested in MMA, he knew one day he wanted to do MMA by himself.
Transition from BJJ to MMA was cool, wrestling in high-school helped him to build that ‘bridge’ between both arts, he competed in a national level during high school. Competing at that level was very helpful and it made his transition to MMA way smoother, because he already got decent striking and very good ground game. Fighting for Combate Americas in his hometown is great, “nothing better than that”, the opportunity to perform in a big show with huge names, in front of his friends and family is a dream come true.
