48 hours away from the most important Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)<\/strong> event in the history of Peru, two of the best fighters in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions of Combate Americas <\/strong>talked about the co-main event of Combat Peru<\/strong> <\/a>between Pablo Villaseca<\/a> (14-5)<\/strong> and Marlon Gonzales<\/a> (14-4-2)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Argentina’s, Marcelo “Pitbull” Rojo<\/a> (15-6)<\/strong>, and Mexico’s\u00a0 Alejandro Flores<\/a> (16-2)<\/strong>, talked about Combate Americas<\/strong>‘ historic event that will bring the largest MMA Hispanic promotion to South American soil for the first time.<\/p>\n

“[I’m] very happy to see Combate Am\u00e9ricas continue to grow as a company like this and covering different Latin American places<\/strong>,” Rojo<\/strong> <\/a>said. “I think Peru is a good venue, in Peru they support mixed martial arts a lot, I have several friends there and the truth is that Peruvians are warriors and it will be good, the fans also fill stadiums and love it [MMA] so much” .<\/p>\n

“Pitbull<\/strong><\/a>“, who has fought in other cards where Villaseca<\/strong> <\/a>has appeared, commented about the Chilean fighter’s performance and how he sees the fight going against Gonzales<\/strong> <\/a>in this co-main event, one that undoubtedly, will showcase the most experienced fighters in the whole card.<\/p>\n

“I think Pablo [Villaseca]<\/a><\/strong>‘s first presentation in Copa Combate wasn’t his best,” Rojo<\/strong> <\/a>said. “Because he hadn’t fought in a long time, because he felt very tired; but I saw him fight in Arena Tour and the truth is that he is a really good fighter, I think Pablo is going to win<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

Just like Rojo<\/a> mentions, Villaseca<\/strong> <\/a>made his Combate Americas<\/strong>‘ debut representing Chile in the Copa Combate 2018<\/strong>, an eight-man tournament competing to win a $100,000 grand prize. However, he fell in the second round against Flores<\/strong><\/a>, who ended up winning the fight by unanimous decision. Although Rojo<\/strong> <\/a>is betting on Villaseca’s<\/strong> <\/a>victory, Flores<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has an opposite opinion regarding the outcome of this fight.<\/p>\n

“I see Villaseca<\/a> very experienced<\/strong>,” Flores<\/strong> <\/a>said. “Villaseca<\/a> has had very difficult fights in many divisions, he has fought in the best companies in the world, I fought with him, he is a strong fighter, I have seen Marlon [Gonz\u00e1les]’<\/a><\/strong>s fights also, he is a very good friend of mine. I give it to Marlon<\/strong>, I see him stronger, I see him more prepared and I see him mentally ready. I don’t know much about Villaseca<\/a>, I only know he is an experienced fighter but this time… I’ll go with Marlon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A good percentage of Combate Americas’ fighters are Latin or Hispanic American born, and it is certainly something that Marcelo Rojo<\/strong><\/a> wants to use in order to push for an event on Argentine soil. He explains that there is a lot of talent that could be placed in a card of this magnitude and ensuring that if he’s in it, he would sell out Arena Luna Park<\/strong> with his presence. Rojo<\/strong><\/a>, even did the matchmaker’s role and mentioned some names that could be in the card as a complement.<\/p>\n

“Now I’m pushing a little bit because we also deserve Combat Americas in Argentina, I don’t know what you think,” said Rojo<\/strong><\/a>. “Campbell [McLaren]<\/strong>, Combat Americas Argentina<\/strong>, I will fill it up, the Luna Park will explode. We put Bruno Cannetti in it, I take ‘Gallo Negro’ [Pablo Sabori] too, I put him in there as co-main event against some Argentinian and later he stays on vacation with me,… Gaston Reyno obviously! There are many Latin Americans [fighters] deep in the south who can fight, and sre good”.<\/p>\n

Combat Peru,<\/strong><\/a> will feature a fight between unbeaten 155 fighters Daniel Zellhuber<\/a> (7-0)<\/strong> and Geanfranco Cort\u00e9z<\/a> (4-0) <\/strong>as the main event, which will be held tomorrow night at\u00a0Coliseo Manuel Bonilla<\/strong>\u00a0in Lima, Peru, and will be broadcast exclusively in English in the United States and Canada on\u00a0DAZN<\/strong><\/a>(12am E, 11pm C, 9pm PAC), as well as on Univision<\/strong> (12am E, 11pm C) and on Univision Deportes<\/strong> (12am E, 11pm C, 9pm PAC).In addition, it will be telecasted nationwide in Peru via Movistar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
