One of the best prospects in Peru will put his undefeated record at stake this week during Combate Peru<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a stacked card full of young talent, especially Peruvian, Geanfranco Cortez (4-0)<\/strong> will make his debut inside “La Jaula” against Mexico’s own Daniel Zellhuber (7-0)<\/strong>, as part of Combate Peru’s main event. It will take place at Coliseo Manuel Bonilla<\/strong>\u00a0in Lima, Peru, and will be broadcast exclusively in English in the United States and Canada on\u00a0DAZN <\/strong><\/a>(12am E, 11pm C, 9pm PAC), as well as on Univision (12am E, 11pm C) and on Univisi\u00f3n Deportes (12am E, 11pm C, 9pm PAC).<\/p>\n

In a fight that will represent the first loss to one of the two fighters involved in the main event, Cortez<\/strong> has indicated that he is relatively “calm” with his expectations about the fight, especially, in what will be one of the best fights of the evening.<\/p>\n

“I’m calm,” Cortez<\/strong> said in a recent interview. “Working my game plan with calm, I know that everything will be fine because I have prepared so much. Once you enter the cage you forget everything. I’m very calm. I’m very confident in my ability to achieve my goal in this fight, I only listen my team members, that helps me to feel better, I do not feel pressured or anxious, in that aspect (mental aspect) I handle myself well”.<\/p>\n

The Peruvian fighter is quite a sensation in his country, as he gained a 4-1 record as amateur in just one year. He became a professional and continued to perform well by earning a 4-win-streak, including two technical knockouts in the first round. Cortez<\/strong> understands that his fight against Zellhuber<\/strong> will be an opportunity to defend his country’s flag, something very important to him, and has full confidence that at the end of the fight he will remain undefeated.<\/p>\n

“As in all the fights I have faced, I have never entered with a negative mindset, that would hurt me and divert me from my main objective,” Cortez<\/strong> said. “I have not thought [of losing], I only see myself as the winner, and I will back up my words in the cage.”<\/p>\n

In his last fight in March, Cortez faced Steven Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, whom he beat by TKO in the first round. Zellhuber, meanwhile, comes from winning his second fight in a row in Combate Americas<\/strong>, and the seventh in his undefeated career. In the end, we’ll have two young fighters seeking to impose their will and stay undefeated in one of the largest events in Combate Americas history.<\/p>\n
