<\/p>\nA group of fighters from Argentina shocked the Latino fight world by defeating a collection of Mexican opponents in three of four bouts, during Combate Global\u2019s return to Mexico in Mexico City last night, Thursday, August 28.<\/p>\n
The success of the three Argentinian winners \u2013 Ignacio \u201cEl Fino\u201d Famozo (7-2), Lucia \u201cMala Onda\u201d Apdelgarim (5-4) and Camila Reynoso (7-1) \u2013 came despite having to deal with the unfamiliar, high altitude of Mexico City.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old Famozo of Buenos Aires began the rally by defeating fellow rising star Esteban Sedano (7-3) of Guadalajara, Jalisco in a featherweight (145 pounds) contest.<\/p>\n

Famozo, who also competes as a kickboxer, stood toe-to-toe with Sedano for three straight rounds, without going to the ground once during the fight.<\/p>\n
The Argentinian fighter stayed loose on his feet, and did damage with both his right and left hand that connected repeatedly throughout the fight, while Sedano was unable to get a rhythm together.<\/p>\n
Famozo walked away with a unanimous decision victory.<\/p>\n
The momentum in Argentina\u2019s favor continued when the 21-year-old Apdelgarim took on 22-year-old Karla \u201cLa Duraznito\u201d Torres (5-2), of Guanajuato, in a strawweight (115 pounds) bout.<\/p>\n
For the first round and a half, the two traded shots on their feet, with Torres landing a left hook repeatedly.<\/p>\n
Midway through the second round, though, Apdelgarim scored a straight right hand to the body that nearly folded Torres and sent the Mexican fighter reeling back on her feet in pain.<\/p>\n
Apdelgarim rushed her opponent and poured on the offense.\u00a0 After several shots, Apdelgarim crumbled Torres with a left shovel hook to the body, giving Argentina its second victory of the night by way of TKO in the second round.<\/p>\n
In the following bantamweight (135 pounds) fight, Brandon \u201cEl Prendido\u201d Gonzalez (6-2) of Tijuana, Baja California temporarily stalled Argentina\u2019s momentum, bringing the fight to Pablo Ramos (4-2) of Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n
Ramos quickly scored a double leg takedown in the first 30 seconds of the first round and attempted a guillotine choke while Gonzalez made his way back to his feet, but Gonzalez broke free and landed a double leg of his own.<\/p>\n
As Ramos made his way to his feet, Gonzalez quickly took Ramos\u2019s back.\u00a0 Gonzalez began to sink in a chokehold and, after Ramos fell to the ground with Gonzalez still on his back, Gonzalez finished the fight with a rear-naked choke in the opening round.<\/p>\n
Women\u2019s action returned to La Jaula in the fourth matchup of the night, a 120-pound catchweight showdown between Camila Reynoso (7-1) and Nicole Geraldo (6-2).<\/p>\n

Geraldo started off strong, landing punches on her feet with both hands in the outset of the fight.<\/p>\n
Reynoso quickly turned the tides, however, scoring a takedown that put Geraldo on her back.\u00a0 From half guard, Reynoso scored elbow strikes to the head of Geraldo.<\/p>\n
Geraldo fought off Reynoso\u2019s attempts to transition to mount, but Reynoso continued to control Geraldo on the mat, pouring on punches and elbow strikes with Geraldo unable to answer.<\/p>\n
After the first round came to a close with Geraldo on her back, Geraldo came out swinging again in the second stanza before Reynoso dragged Geraldo to the mat.<\/p>\n
From half guard, Reynoso rained down on Geraldo, opening up a deep gash above Geraldo\u2019s ight eye.<\/p>\n
With blood oozing from Geraldo\u2019s head, Reynoso transitioned to mount position and hammered Geraldo with continuous punches, prompting the referee to nearly stop the fight.<\/p>\n
Geraldo suddenly popped up her hips, and miraculously forced Reynoso off her and onto the Argentinian fighter\u2019s back.<\/p>\n
Geraldo grabbed hold of Reynoso\u2019s left ankle and attempted a submission before Reynoso rolled out of trouble.<\/p>\n
The Mexican continued her stunning comeback, made it to her feet before taking Reynoso\u2019s back before the round came to a close.<\/p>\n
In the third frame, Reynoso scored another takedown after the first minute and a half of the round lapsed.<\/p>\n
Reynoso grabbed mount position with Geraldo on her back and unloaded a series of left hands to Geraldo\u2019s head before putting Geraldo on her back.<\/p>\n
After struggling for position, Reynoso postured up in mount position and again started hammering down before the round and the fight came to a close and Reynoso was awarded a unanimous decision, giving Argentina the victory over Mexico.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
