With a background in kickboxing, Luna attempted to keep the fight on the feet, but Lara found the key to take the fight to ground where she quickly landed heavy shots from ground and pound busting her opponent’s nose.

The referee stepped in to stop the fight, as a blood Luna was defeated.

After the fight, Lara mentioned she still looks forward to fight Acosta and potentially for a title.

Cortez vs. Rios

Cortez promised a quick finish and he lived up to his word connecting Rios with a left shot to the rib area, which knocked out the air of the Mexican early in the first round.

This fight originally was scheduled to take place last December, but Cortez came in overweight.

A confident Cortez said during media week that Rios was not at his level. He surely did not waste anytime, as he was offensive as soon as the bell rang.

But Cortez was just too much. Cortez, who did not sustain any injuries, said after the fight he is willing to fight as soon as possible.

Pace vs. Ortega

Coming off his first defeat, Pace looked to get back on the win column, however, he felt short.

Unlike previous fights, he was more composed and didn’t brawl. In the first round, he was a different fighter throwing straight jobs that made some damage. Ortega looked dormant in the first round not answering much.

However, in the second round, Ortega, felt his groove and frustrated Pace Jr. forcing him to move thanks to his footwork.

In a desperate move to take the win, Pace Jr. looked for the takedown but couldn’t take the win.

Ortega took the win by unanimous decision.

Miami, FL -Colombia’s Alejandra “Azul” Lara (10-7) successfully made her Combate Global debut defeating Argentina’s Gisela Luna (5-2) by way of technical knockout in the first round at 1:39 in this week’s flyweight main event.
