MIAMI <\/strong>\u2013 August 23, 2023 <\/strong>\u2013 COMBATE GLOBAL today announced its next Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight card on Saturday, Aug. 26<\/strong>, live on PARAMOUNT PLUS<\/strong> starting at 9:30 p.m. ET\/6:30 p.m. PT <\/strong>from Miami.<\/p>\n

In the featherweight (145 pounds) main event, Mexican star Jair \u201cEl Lupe\u201d P\u00e9rez<\/strong><\/a> (8-3) will collide with Chilean standout, Mauricio Eguiluz<\/strong><\/a> (10-6-1).<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old P\u00e9rez of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico is a former, two-time national wrestling champion looking for his second consecutive win as well as his sixth victory in his last seven appearances, following a third round (1:20) TKO (punches) conquest of Genier Penagos in COMBATE GLOBAL action on April 1.<\/p>\n

P\u00e9rez, at 20 years of age, made his professional debut with COMBATE GLOBAL in May 2018, and has since reeled off a record of 6-2 under the promotional banner.<\/p>\n

Eguiluz, 30, hails from Santiago, Chile, and is seeking his third consecutive victory in what will already be his fourth fight of 2023.<\/p>\n

Three years ago, Eguiluz, who holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, relocated from his native country to Tijuana, B.C., Mexico in order to pursue training with established fighters in the professional circuit.<\/p>\n

In a featured women\u2019s atomweight (105 pounds) matchup, Nadine Abbott<\/strong> (1-1) will square off with Mariah Castro<\/strong> (1-1).<\/p>\n

Abbott is a 22-year-old native of Dublin, Ireland and a former International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) amateur world champion, looking for her second straight win as a professional.<\/p>\n

On April 8, Abbott notched her first professional victory, submitting Mexico\u2019s Jharely Reyes with an armbar in the first round (2:28) of their fight.<\/p>\n

Like Abbott, the 28-year-old Castro of Kearny, N.J. will seek her second professional victory, after defeating Lupe Mateo via unanimous decision in a COMBATE GLOBAL matchup between two professional debut competitors on August 26, 2022.<\/p>\n

Castro\u2019s professional debut came after she posted a strong amateur record of 6-2.<\/p>\n

Castro holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and is a member of Carnicella MMA, which also serves as a home to fellow COMBATE GLOBAL fighter, Natalie Schlesinger.<\/p>\n

The COMBATE GLOBAL fight card\u2019s second featured main card contest will pit Martin Justiz<\/strong> (3-1) against Isaac \u201cEl Muelas\u201d Ruelas<\/strong> (5-4) at featherweight.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old Justiz is a native of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba and a Miami resident, who produced a potential \u201cFight of the Year\u201d performance in his last COMBATE GLOBAL effort on March 11, when he went toe-to-toe with Miguel Lugo, scoring an incredible TKO (punches) on Lugo with just one second remaining (4:59) in the fight\u2019s third and final round.<\/p>\n

Fighting out of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico, the 31-year-old Ruelas is a former World Boxing Council (WBC) national Muay Thai champion who will seek his second straight win following a unanimous decision over David Zelner in COMBATE GLOBAL on April 1.<\/p>\n

In non-televised undercard action, Samuel \u201cThe Alley Cat\u201d Alvarez<\/strong> (7-5) of Manteca, Calif. will take on Richie Palomino<\/strong> (6-4) of Santa Ana, Calif.<\/p>\n

Ovidio Bojorquez<\/strong> (4-2) of Hermosillo, Son., Mexico will battle \u201cBig\u201d Al Gonzales<\/strong> (3-5) of Fresno, Calif. at welterweight (170 pounds).<\/p>\n
