(MMA) fight card complete with five matchups between fighters from Mexico and the U.S., for Sunday, July 16, live on Univision (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT) from Miami.

In the featherweight (145 pounds) main event, knockout artist Roberto “El Charro Negro” Romero (6-2-1) will collide with fellow aggressive-minded finisher Justin “Slick J” Vazquez (10-2).

“The rivalry between neighbors Mexico and the U.S. continues to produce some of the best action in La Jaula, and this fight card has some of the best new talent from both sides of the border,” said COMBATE GLOBAL CEO Campbell McLaren.

Originally slated to take place as a main event bout in March, the much-anticipated matchup between Romero of Chihuahua, Chih., Mexico and Vazquez of Miami was postponed due to visa issues that Romero encountered.

The 23-year-old Romero, one of COMBATE GLOBAL’s, most exciting and hardest-hitting combatants, has gone unbeaten in his last six starts, and produced first round knockouts in three of them.

Romero’s epic, three-round COMBATE GLOBAL battle with Zed Montanez that ended in a draw on October 22, 2021, was honored with a “Fight of the Year” award.

In 2019, Romero joined famed coach Colin Oyama’s fight team in Irvine, Calif., and has since trained for all of his bouts with the squad at Oyama’s gym.

Standing opposite Romero, the 31-year-old Vazquez, is a well-rounded mixed martial artist who has earned 60 percent of his wins by way of (T)KO or submission.

In his last COMBATE GLOBAL fight on March 11, Vazquez scored an incredible, first round (3:24) knockout with a flying knee strike to the head of his opponent, Alejandro Gavidia.

The footage of Romero’s knockout went viral on the internet, with the knee strike being touted as the best since MMA superstar Jorge Masvidal’s knockout of Ben Askren in 2019.

Vazquez, a member of the fight team Freedom Fighters in Miami, will look for his sixth consecutive win when he faces Romero.

In a featured bantamweight (135 pounds) matchup, Ismael “Kraken” Zamora (6-2) will square off with undefeated Adam “Kid Solo” Ortiz (5-0).

Zamora is a 23-year-old native of Mexico City, Mexico and a part of the renowned team, Bonebreakers, which also plays home to COMBATE GLOBAL World Bantamweight Champion, David “The Black Spartan” Martinez (10-1) and which won the $50,000 grand prize and competition among four different top MMA gyms in COMBATE GLOBAL’s reality television series in 2022.

Primarily a fast-paced striker, Zamora has notched five of his six professional wins by way of (T)KO or submission.

Zamora’s opponent, the 29-year-old Ortiz of Tucson, Ariz., has been unstoppable in competition since he made his professional debut in 2022.

After four consecutive wins last year, Ortiz has already fought twice in 2023, earning first round submissions in both fights.

Another featured bout will see Dulce “La Demoledora” Vazquez (0-0) of Ixtlahuaca, Estado de Mexico, Mexico make her professional debut against Naomie Young (0-0) of DeLand, Fla. at a catchweight of 120 pounds.

Topping the non-televised undercard bill will be a bantamweight scrap between Miguel “Iron Mike” Gonzalez (5-2) of Mexico City and “Slick” Rick Zelada (3-1) of Los Angeles, Calif.

The preliminary bout card will between with a women’s 110-pound catchweight fight between Elizabeth Avila (1-4) of Mexico City and Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc (9-10) of Las Vegas, Nev.

Additional information about Combate Global and its athletes can be found on www.CombateGlobal.com as well as on <a
