Miami, FL-<\/strong> Dominican Repubic\u2019s Micaias \u201cThe Pink Ranger\u201d Ure\u00f1a<\/a> (9-3) brought his flashiness and fast paced skills, which earned him his first victory in la jaula in this week\u2019s main event.<\/p>\n

Micaias defeated Carlos Brise\u00f1o<\/a> (14-4) by way of unanimous decision in Saturday\u2019s main event.<\/p>\n

Also, Jade Jorand picked up her fourth win in a row against a tough grappler Katie Perez. The Frenchwoman picked up the win by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

And, Spain\u2019s Andrea Meneses (5-1) showed her all around skills as a mixed martial artist defeating Maria Paz (0-1) by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Ure\u00f1a vs Briseno<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although it was his debut for Combate Global, Ure\u00f1a, who won many belts in kickboxing in his native country, did not show any nerves competing against a man very familiar with the cage.\u00a0\u00a0 Briseno kept consistent with his striking, but Ure\u00f1a found was with his footwork to counter appropriately.<\/p>\n

Occasionally, Ure\u00f1a threw roundhouse kicks and knees when he found the right timing. However, Brise\u00f1o has a strong chin and is thought as nails. In comparison, Brise\u00f1o was the bigger fighter, but Ure\u00f1a didn\u2019t show any setbacks due to the size difference.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the third round, Ure\u00f1a went to back and forth in a brawl. Ure\u00f1a landed knees and elbows while in the pocket enough to convince the judges that he deserved the win.<\/p>\n

Jorand vs Perez<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Jorand usually starts her fights, she came in fast with her striking, but Perez took several shots and found the right timing to take her down. From the middle of the first round and on, Perez dominated on the ground.<\/p>\n

But with Jorand managed to make it to the second round. In the second and third round, Jorand made the proper adjustments and Perez, desperate for another takedown, couldn\u2019t find a grip on taking Jorand down.<\/p>\n

She modified her game plan and stopped any attempt at Perez\u2019s takedown sprawling consistently.<\/p>\n

In the last round, Jorand seemed to all but nearly have the fight in the bag but couldn\u2019t get the referee to stop the fight so she settled for a unanimous decision victory.<\/p>\n

Meneses vs Paz<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meneses suffered her first defeat last time around she competed inside la jaula. She knew she had to fix her ground game so she invested in enrolling in a jiu jitsu to focus on her ground game.<\/p>\n

It paid off. She dominated Paz on the ground. Paz, who made her professional debut, was fierce with her striking but Meneses\u2019, experience inside la jaula came in handy when she put her ground work on display.<\/p>\n

Paz couldn\u2019t find relief when she was taken to the ground.<\/p>\n

Meneses took the win by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

COMBATE GLOBAL 2023 JULY 8: BRISENO VS URENA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Violeta Mendoza defeated Andrea Filipe by technical knockout at 4:52 in the first round.<\/p>\n

Luis Murdoch defeated Diego Frietas by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Andrea Meneses defeated Maria Paz by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Micais Urena defeated Carlos Briseno by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n
