\u00a0<\/strong>NEW YORK <\/strong>\u2013 March 8, 2023 <\/strong>\u2013 Combate Global today announced the complete Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight lineup for its first event of 2023, live on Univision (11 p.m. ET\/8 p.m. PT) from Miami, Fla. on Saturday, March 11.<\/p>\n

Headlining the first event of the year will be a Mexico vs. USA collision between two grappling aces, Alejandro Gavidia<\/strong> (4-2) and Justin \u201cSlick J\u201d Vazquez <\/strong><\/a>(9-2). The main event will be contested at a catchweight of 152 pounds.<\/p>\n

Gavidia of Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico, is a decorated, four-time national champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a brown belt in the martial arts discipline.<\/p>\n

In his last start on August 26, 2022, Gavidia scored a first round (3:11) TKO (punches) on Kevin Arreola.<\/p>\n

Vazquez of Miami, Fla. will seek his fifth consecutive victory when he squares off with Gavidia.<\/p>\n

With a mix of what Vazquez describes as \u2018Cuban-style Karate, slick wrestling, kickboxing and submission grappling\u2019, Vazquez, a member of Miami\u2019s Freedom Fighters MMA fight team, has become a bonafide force in the sport.<\/p>\n

Neither Gavidia nor Vazquez have ever been knocked out.<\/p>\n

In a women\u2019s catchweight (110 pounds) co-main event, Irene \u201cLa Ni\u00f1a\u201d Cabello Rivera<\/strong> (9-6) will return to Combate Global action for the first time since 2019, to take on Jade \u201cThe Princess\u201d Jorand<\/strong> (2-2).<\/p>\n

Hailing from Barcelona, Spain, the 30-year-old Rivera has become re-focused on her MMA career, re-locating to Guadalajara, Jal., Mexico to train under the roof of famed coach Francisco Grasso that serves as home to a small legion of women\u2019s MMA stars.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old Jorand of Bordeaux, France will look for her third consecutive victory after emerging victorious in both of her fights last year.<\/p>\n

In a featured bantamweight (135 pounds) contest, Ismael \u201cKraken\u201d Zamora<\/strong><\/a> (5-2) of Mexico City, Mexico will face off with Ramon \u201cWild Boy\u201d Vizcarra<\/strong> (6-4) of Mexicali, B.C., Mexico.<\/p>\n

The preliminary bout card on March 11 will be highlighted by a flyweight (125 pounds) matchup between Gaston \u201cCabeludo\u201d Manzur<\/strong> (12-8) of Santiago, Chile and Chris Ocon<\/strong> (6-2) of Nashville, Tenn.<\/p>\n

Leading off the card will be a bantamweight tilt between Mauricio \u201cPuppy\u201d Cubillo<\/strong> (10-7) of San Jose, Costa Rica and Alex \u201cCoyote\u201d Gonzalez<\/strong> (4-4) of Mexico City via Phoenix, Ariz.<\/p>\n
