NEW YORK <\/strong>\u2013 August 21, 2022 <\/strong>\u2013 Combate Global today announced a five-bout Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight card, headlined by another spectacular USA vs. Mexico confrontation, for Friday, Aug. 26, live on television in the U.S. on Univision (12 a.m. ET\/PT) and TUDN (12 a.m. ET\/9 p.m. PT) from Miami, Fla.<\/p>\n

In the bantamweight (135 pounds) main event, undefeated American David \u201cThe Silent Killer\u201d Solorzano<\/strong> <\/a>(5-0) will put his perfect record on the line against one of the sport\u2019s top, new Mexican phenoms and slick submission experts, Axel Osuna<\/strong><\/a> (4-1).<\/p>\n

Fighting out of San Francisco, Calif., the 28-year-old Solorzano is coming off his first victory of 2021, a split decision over Raymond Ramos on April 28.<\/p>\n

Solorzano recorded his first two Combate Global victories \u2013 a unanimous decision over Hector Ferral and a unanimous decision over Ramon Vizcarra \u2013 on July 23, 2021 and September 17, 2021, respectively.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Osuna, a native of Guadalajara, J.L., has earned all four of his professional career victories inside of two rounds, via (T)KO or submission, including a second round (3:57) triangle armbar submission of veteran Edgar Chairez in Osuna\u2019s professional debut under the promotion of Combate on October 26, 2018.<\/p>\n

After being sidelined for the latter half of 2021 due to a hand injury, Osuna returned to form on May 13, scoring a third round (1:20) TKO on 2021 \u201cComeback of the Year\u201d award winner, Max \u201cSteel\u201d Gonzalez on May 13.<\/p>\n

In the bantamweight co-main event, Mauricio \u201cPupy\u201d Cubillo<\/strong> (16-6) will take on 2021 \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d semifinalist Leo \u201cThe Mexicutioner\u201d Muniz<\/strong> (7-2).<\/p>\n

A decade-long veteran of professional MMA, Cubillo San Jose, Costa Rica has faced and overcome tough adversaries during his career, including former Combate world champion Jose \u201cPochito\u201d Alday, whom Cubillo defeated via second round (2:25) submission (anaconda choke) on September 3, 2016.<\/p>\n

Muniz of The Bronx, N.Y. will see action for the first time in 2022 due to an injury he has been nursing since the beginning of the year. The Mexican American kickboxing stylist earned three consecutive wins under the promotion of Combate Global in 2021, after a near-five-year hiatus from competition due to lack of opportunities in the sport.<\/p>\n

Muniz\u2019s last win came in the form of a first round (3:53) TKO (strikes) of Frenchman Pierre Daguzan in the quarterfinal stage of the \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d one-night, eight-man tournament last December 12.<\/p>\n

In featured flyweight (125 pounds) action, Carlos \u201cChakal\u201d Reyes<\/strong> (3-2) of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico will take on Mason Iacobellis<\/strong> (2-2) of Temecula, Calif.<\/p>\n

Another flyweight contest will pit Gerardo \u201dTerrier\u201d Graniel<\/strong> (7-4) of Mexico City, Mexico against Santiago Monreal<\/strong> (6-3) of Mexicali, B.C.<\/p>\n

In a matchup between two women competitors making their respective professional debuts against one another, Mariah Castro<\/strong> (0-0) of Kearny, N.J. will throw down with Lupe Mateo<\/strong> (0-0) of Homestead, Fla. in a 110-pound catchweight affair.<\/p>\n
