NEW YORK <\/strong>\u2013 July 20, 2022 <\/strong>\u2013 Combate Global today announced a five-fight Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) lineup for Friday, July 22, live on television in the U.S. on Univision (12 a.m. ET\/PT) and TUDN (12 a.m. ET\/9 p.m. PT) from Miami, Fla.<\/p>\n

In the bantamweight (135 pounds) main event, 22-year-old wrecking machine Ismael \u201cKraken\u201d Zamora<\/strong> <\/a>(3-1) will face off with submission expert and \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d tournament veteran Cristian \u201cScorpio\u201d Barraza<\/strong> (8-5).<\/p>\n

Zamora was originally slated to face fellow Mexican fighter Carlos Mascorro, but Mascorro was forced to withdraw from the bout due to COVID-19 protocols.<\/p>\n

A member of the famed Bonebreakers team that is also home to reigning Combate Global World Bantamweight Champion David Martinez, Zamora of Mexico City is one of the sport\u2019s most highly regarded, pound-for-pound prospects who has earned all of his victories to date by way of (T)KO or submission.<\/p>\n

Zamora will make his third appearance of 2022 in La Jaula, the Combate Global competition cage, following back-to-back victories that he produced just two weeks apart on April 8 and April 22, respectively.<\/p>\n

Barraza of Santiago, Chile is a 28-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt who has earned 7 of his 8 career victories by way of submission.<\/p>\n

Barraza represented Chile in the 2021 \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d one-night, eight-man, $100,000 grand prize tournament where he took eventual tournament champion Frans Mlambo of Ireland the distance of their quarterfinal stage bout, before Mlambo was declared the winner by way of decision.<\/p>\n

A women\u2019s atomweight (105 pounds) co-main event will see 2021 \u201cHeart of a Fighter\u201d award winner, Gloria \u201cGloriosa\u201d Bravo<\/strong> (6-5), collide with John Kavanagh prot\u00e9g\u00e9 Katie \u201cQueen of the North\u201d Saull<\/strong> (4-5).<\/p>\n

Bravo of Santiago is looking to notch her third consecutive win following back-to-back victories just two weeks apart last September 3 and September 17, when she scored a first round (4:36) submission (armbar) win over France\u2019s Jade Jorand and a unanimous decision over Mexico\u2019s Irlanda Galindo, respectively.<\/p>\n

Fighting out of Dublin, Ireland, Saull, originally from Manitoba, Canada, is a member of Kavanagh\u2019s Straight Blast Gym (SBG) fight squad. She is gunning for her second straight victory following a first round (4:30) submission (armbar) of Tamika Jones on January 12.<\/p>\n

In a featured featherweight (145 pounds) contest, Jordan \u201cBull\u201d Beltran<\/strong> (12-8) of Colima, Col., Mexico will face off with Jose \u201cChepe\u201d Mariscal<\/strong> (11-6) of Denver, Colo.<\/p>\n

Also announced today was a change to the preliminary card lineup. The previously announced strawweight (115 pounds) matchup between Spanish kickboxing star Damari Olivares<\/strong> (0-0) and Angel Blackwell<\/strong> (0-0) of Atlanta, Ga. has been canceled due to Olivares\u2019s inability to enter the U.S.<\/p>\n

In place of this women\u2019s bout, Combate Global announced a bantamweight contest between unbeaten Erik Mendez<\/strong> (1-0) of Spokane, Wash. and Abanoub \u201cAnger Management\u201d Fares<\/strong> (0-0) of Cork, Ireland via Sacramento, Calif.<\/p>\n

At lightweight (155 pounds), Alexander Sanchez<\/strong> (3-3) of San Luis Potosi, SLP., Mexico will meet Gabriel Morales<\/strong> (3-3) of Caracas, Venezuela via Miami.<\/p>\n
