NEW YORK <\/strong>\u2013 June 8, 2022 <\/strong>\u2013 Combate Global today announced a new welterweight (170 pounds) main event \u2013 Mexican star Leo \u201cThe Lion\u201d Rodriguez<\/strong> (13-2) vs. American standout Marcus \u201cBad Intentions\u201d Edwards<\/strong> (13-6) – for its five-fight Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) card on Friday, June 10, on Univision (12 a.m. ET\/PT) and TUDN USA (12 a.m. ET\/9 p.m. PT) from Miami,, Fla.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez of Mexico City has stepped up to take the fight on just three days\u2019 notice after Lloreda was forced to withdraw from the main event commitment due to Combate Global\u2019s COVID-19 protocols.<\/p>\n

A member of the famed Bonebreakers camp where he trains with Combate Global World Bantamweight Champion David \u201cThe Black Spartan\u201d Martinez, Rodriguez will look for his fourth consecutive victory after winning each of his last three bouts by way of (T)KO or submission inside of two rounds.<\/p>\n

In Rodriguez\u2019s sole start for Combate Global on October 26, 2018, he stopped Ramon Lopez with an onslaught of punches in the second round (3:37) of battle.<\/p>\n

Edwards of Littleton, Colo. is arguably the toughest test of Rodriguez\u2019s 11-year professional career.<\/p>\n

To date, the hard-hitting American has earned 11 of his 13 career wins via (T)KO or submission, and has faced off with a small batch of name competitors, including Justin Gaethje, Efrain Escudero and Pat \u201cBam Bam\u201d Healy.<\/p>\n
