TWO \u2018COPA\u2019 TOURNAMENT RESERVE BOUTS ANNOUNCED<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW YORK \u2013 November 23, 2021 \u2013 Combate Global today made a trio of announcements regarding its \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d extravaganza, live on Univision and TUDN USA from Miami, Fla. on Sunday, Dec. 12.<\/p>\n

The 2021 \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d event will air live in Mexico on TUDN MX.<\/p>\n

Carlos Brise\u00f1o (13-2) will replace injured world champion David \u201cThe Black Spartan\u201d Martinez (6-1), and represent Mexico in the \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d one-night, eight-man tournament that will see eight fighters from eight different countries battle it out for a $100,000 grand prize.<\/p>\n

Like Martinez, the 31-year-old Brise\u00f1o hails from Mexico City, and is a member of the Bonebreakers fight squad.<\/p>\n

Brise\u00f1o, who holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, earned his first victory under the promotion of Combate Global on October 1, defeating American Adam Martinez by way of unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Joining Brise\u00f1o in the \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d tournament field are the seven previously announced participants: Kevin Cordero (12-2) of Spain; Leo Muniz (6-1) from the U.S.; Frans \u201cThe Zulu Irishman\u201d Mlambo (10-5) of Ireland; Jose \u201cThe Mercenary\u201d Zarauz (22-8-1) of Peru; Cristian \u201cEl Scorpio\u201d Barraza (7-3) representing Chile; Luciano \u201cEl Aguila\u201d Ramos (8-6) of Argentina; and Pierre \u201cThe French Hawaiian\u201d Daguzan (6-5) of France.<\/p>\n

The \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d tournament brackets and quarterfinal stage matchups will be announced soon.<\/p>\n

Also announced today were a pair of women\u2019s \u201cSuperfight\u201d bouts that will take place in between stages of the one-night tournament.<\/p>\n

In a strawweight (115 pounds) contest, Criszaida Adames (5-1) will battle Caroline \u201cTaz\u201d Gallardo (5-4), while Lucero \u201cLa Loba\u201d Acosta (2-2) will face off with Rosselyn Chavira (1-0) at flyweight (125 pounds).<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old Adames of Philadelphia, Pa. via The Dominican Republic competed in the first-ever Combate Global one-night women\u2019s tournament on August 13, notching a unanimous decision over Yajiara \u201cLa Pantera Negra\u201d Cunningham in the quarterfinal stage of the event before being stopped in the first round (3:14) of action by eventual tournament winner Yasmine Jauregui.<\/p>\n

Prior to the loss to Jauregui, Adames had never been defeated either as a professional or amateur.<\/p>\n

The tenacious and always game 25-year-old Gallardo is a native of Santiago, Chile, fighting out of trainer Mike Valle\u2019s Valle Flow Striking camp in Chicago, Ill.<\/p>\n

Gallardo\u2019s last start also took place on the Combate Global card on August 13 when she earned her a split decision over Camila Rivarola in a tournament reserve fight.<\/p>\n

In a third announcement today, Combate Global revealed the participants and matchups for the two \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d bantamweight tournament reserve bouts on December 12.<\/p>\n

In one bout, Felipe \u201cPipe\u201d Vargas (7-2) of San Jose, Calif. via Bogota, Colombia will take on unbeaten Diego \u201cEl Ni\u00f1o\u201d Gomez Manzur (4-0) of Santiago, Chile.<\/p>\n

In the second tournament reserve fight, Ricky Bandejas (14-6) of Brick, N.J. via Coconut Creek, Fla. will face Alan \u201cBeche\u201d Cantu (9-7) of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico.<\/p>\n

Should any of the \u201cCOPA COMBATE\u201d tournament\u2019s quarterfinal stage winners be unable to continue his bid in the semifinal stage due to injury, the winner of one of the tournament reserve bouts will replace the injured winner in the tournament\u2019s semifinal stage.<\/p>\n
