Getting into MMA at a young age to bond with his father, also a fighter, Perez recognized that he was at a higher level than those in the practice room- and perhaps this could become not only his livelihood but also his legacy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just moved to Miami six months ago; I left my home in Mexico to pour everything I have into this sport. I train out of GOAT Shed Academy here in Miami, and I still meet with my coaches in Mexico through Zoom calls,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Perez makes a return to La Jaula this next Friday, November 12, as part of the eight-man lightweight tournament. Perez\u2019s first fight in this tournament is against Miguel Villegas.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know him from fighting in the amateur circuit in Mexico. I honestly think he will be my toughest opponent up to this point, but I believe regardless of all his strengths, it won\u2019t be enough to stop me from getting a big paycheck. I can\u2019t say whether it will be a knockout or a submission, but just expect smash.\u201d<\/p>\n
He later said, \u201cThis tournament means a lot to me. It\u2019s going to change my life and the lives of my family. My opponents do not motivate me at all. I already know going in that I will defeat them. I already know I\u2019m in a lot better shape than the others in the tournament- I\u2019m young, and I have yet to spill blood in La Jaula.
