Miami, Fl- Chiropractor Eli Avila<\/a> (0-1) wanted to understand how her patients injuries occurred.<\/p>\n

So, she enrolled in a mixed martial arts gym and decided to train.<\/p>\n

Avila will make her Combate Global debut against Daniela \u201cTiny Mexa\u201d Hernandez (1-0) in an atomweight scrap inside la jaula this Friday, July 16. The event will be broadcasted on Paramount + starting with live coverage at 10:30 p.m. ET\/9:30 p.m. followed by live fight action at 11 p.m. ET\/10 p.m. CT and Univision (12 a.m. ET\/PT) and TUDN USA (12 a.m. ET\/9 p.m. PT) and TUDN MEX (11 p.m. local time) in Mexico.<\/p>\n

\u201cOriginally, I wanted to train because of my job. I am a licensed chiropractor and I wanted to understand how injuries occurred with my patients so I can offer better service. Later, I continued to train because I was overweight,\u201d said Avila, who works for Bamboo Salud Integral.<\/p>\n

Fighters she would attend would invite her to events.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I would see them in action, I would be emotional and think that I too could try it out,\u201d she said. \u201cI wanted to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Currently, she trains with Toshinkaikan TGV, where fellow Combate Global fighters David and Mely Martinez also train. Her head coach is Ricardo Martinez.<\/p>\n

Prior to competing in mixed martial arts, the brown belt in karate practiced soccer, but she is now fully focused in her professional career as a fighter.<\/p>\n

She obtained her degree from the Universidad Estatal del Valle de Ecatepec.<\/p>\n

Obtaining her degree was difficult since her family faced economic woes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI needed to start to work in restaurants and banquet halls to take pictures while I studied,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

This will be the second time Avila competes against Hernandez as both met in a national mma event in 2019. Avila is looking for revenge as the first match was a defeat for her.<\/p>\n

However, Avila is looking forward to Friday, but also has her sights on upcoming international kickboxing tournaments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
