{"id":12062,"date":"2021-06-15T16:53:27","date_gmt":"2021-06-15T23:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.combateglobal.com\/?p=12062"},"modified":"2021-06-15T16:53:27","modified_gmt":"2021-06-15T23:53:27","slug":"the-black-spartan-is-itching-for-action-after-tournament-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/combateglobal.com\/en\/the-black-spartan-is-itching-for-action-after-tournament-win","title":{"rendered":"The Black Spartan is itching for action after tournament win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fresh off his tournament win, <a href=\"https:\/\/combateglobal.com\/en\/david-martinez-wins-historic-eight-man-bantamweight-tournament\">David \u201cThe Black Spartan\u201d Martinez<\/a> is ready for combat after defeating three men in one night.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the aspiring doctor won Combate Global\u2019s bantamweight tournament.<\/p>\n<p>In the finals, he defeated his foe Francisco Riviera Jr. in just 17 seconds by way of knockout.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel really emotional, and I feel that I took a big step in mixed martial arts in a major promotion like Combate Globa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ADJUSTING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prior to winning the tournament, he defeated Alan Cantu by way of unanimous decision in the semi-finals and in the quarter finals he ousted Alex Gonzalez by way of TKO at 1:50 in the first round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan was to always adapt in every situation and give the best I can in each round,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REPRESENTING HIS NATIVE COUNTRY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The tournament featured fighters from both Mexico and the United States and there was no doubt in Martinez\u2019s mind that he was excited to raise his country\u2019s flag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel proud to always be able to get on the stand and proudly rise the Mexican flag and be a part of history,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CELEBRATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the victory, the Bonebreakers Team fighter flew back from Miami to his hometown of Coyoacan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went to eat with the family and spoke about the event later on we planned to make a major feast for all of the professors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez is ready to get inside la jaula to compete since he didn\u2019t suffer any injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am ready for whatever comes my way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fresh off his tournament win, David \u201cThe Black Spartan\u201d Martinez is ready for combat after defeating three men in one night.
