PT) IN THE U.S. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>TENTPOLE EVENT MARKS THE FIRST-EVER <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ONE-NIGHT, EIGHT-MAN TOURNAMENT IN FLORIDA HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW YORK and MIAMI <\/strong>\u2013 <strong>May 24, 2021 <\/strong>\u2013 Combate Global and Univision Communications Inc. today announced a one-night, eight-man Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) tournament in the men\u2019s bantamweight (135 pounds) division on Saturday, May 29, live one hour earlier than usual, on Univision (11 p.m. ET\/PT) and TUDN USA (11 p.m. ET\/8 p.m. PT) in the U.S. from Univision\u2019s studios in Miami, Fla.<\/p>\n<p>The show will also air in Mexico on both Televisa Nueve and TUDN MX on a 30-minute delay, beginning at 10:30 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n<p>The event marks the first-ever, one-night, eight-man MMA tournament in the state of Florida, as well as the second of four Combate Global tentpole events this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe eight-man tournament is how I launched the UFC, and it is one of the ways that Combate has distinguished itself from other MMA organizations,\u201d said Combate Global CEO <strong>Campbell McLaren<\/strong>. \u201cOnly Combate does a one-night tournament, which is considered the toughest event in sports. The challenge for the athletes is not just the extraordinary physical challenge of three fights in one night, but also the incredible mental challenge of facing three different opponents in one night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The eight-man tournament field will consist of four fighters from Mexico and four fighters from the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Representing Mexico in the first tournament bracket, <strong>David \u201cThe Black Spartan\u201d Martinez<\/strong> (3-1) of Coyoacan, CDMX will square off with <strong>Eduardo \u201cEl Pube\u201d Alvarado Osuna<\/strong> (9-6) of Tijuana, B.C., while undefeated <strong>Ernesto \u201cStallion\u201d Ibarra<\/strong> (5-0) of Ensenada, B.C. will battle <strong>Alan \u201cBeche\u201d Cantu<\/strong> (8-6) of Monterrey, N.L.<\/p>\n<p>Representing the U.S. in the opposite tournament bracket, <strong>Manny Vazquez<\/strong> (12-3) of Elmwood Park, Ill. will face off with <strong>Nohelin \u2018Suave\u201d Hernandez<\/strong> (10-4) of Gilroy, Calif., while <strong>Francisco \u201cCisco\u201d Rivera, Jr.<\/strong> (12-7) of Buena Park, Calif. will collide with <strong>Adam \u201cThe American Bully\u201d Martinez<\/strong> (7-2) of Colorado Springs, Colo.<\/p>\n<p>The winners of the quarterfinal stage bouts in each bracket will meet each other in the semifinal stage of the tournament. The winner of each semifinal bout will represent his respective country and face off in the championship stage of the tournament in a Mexico vs. USA showdown.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament event will also feature two \u201creserve\u201d bouts \u2013 one between Americans <strong>Hector \u201cEl Matador\u201d Fajardo<\/strong> (4-0) of Sacramento, Calif. and <strong>Leodegario \u201cThe Mexicutioner\u201d Muniz<\/strong> (4-1) of Tobyhanna, Pa., and the other between Mexican rivals <strong>Rodrigo Garcia<\/strong> (3-1) of Monterrey and <strong>Alex \u201cCoyote\u201d Gonzalez<\/strong> (3-2) of Chihuahua, Chihuahua.Should any of the quarterfinal stage winners in the U.S. bracket be unable to continue his bid in the semifinal stage due to injury, the winner of the bout between Fajardo and Muniz will replace the injured winner in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>If any of the quarterfinal stage winners in the Mexico bracket suffer the same fate, the winner of the bout between Garcia and Gonzalez will replace the injured winner in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament\u2019s quarterfinal stage bouts will consist of one, five-minute round; the semifinal stage bouts will consist of three, three-minute rounds; and the championship stage bout will also consist of three, three-minute rounds.<\/p>\n<p>In a non-tournament women\u2019s catchweight (118 pounds) contest, <strong>Karen Cedillo<\/strong> (4-2) of Monterrey will take on <strong>Camila Rivarola<\/strong> (3-2-1) of Stockholm, Sweden.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LIVE ON UNIVISION (11 P.M.
