{"id":11754,"date":"2021-05-13T17:32:07","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T00:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.combateglobal.com\/?p=11754"},"modified":"2021-05-14T22:23:12","modified_gmt":"2021-05-15T05:23:12","slug":"marcos-lopez-steps-in-to-face-former-world-champion-jose-alday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/combateglobal.com\/en\/marcos-lopez-steps-in-to-face-former-world-champion-jose-alday","title":{"rendered":"Marcos Lopez steps in to face Former World Champion Jose Alday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington state\u2019s Marcos \u201cEl Toro\u201d Lopez (5-2) has stepped up to face Combate Global\u2019s former world champion <a href=\"https:\/\/combateglobal.com\/en\/combate-global-and-univision-announce-complete-mma-lineup-for-friday-may-14\">Jose \u201cPochito\u201d Alday<\/a> (13-5-1).<\/p>\n<p>The main event bout will air live this Friday, May 14, live on Univision (12 a.m.\/PT) and TUDN USA (12 a.m.\/9 p.m. PT) in the U.S. and on TUDN MX (11 p.m. local time) in Mexico from Univision\u2019s studios in Miami, Fla.<\/p>\n<p>The show will also re-air in Mexico on Televisa Nueve the following day, Saturday May 15 at 5 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez trains with the Sik-jiujitsu in Spokane, Washington home to mixed marital arts veteran Michael Chiesa.<\/p>\n<p>He is riding on a four-fight win streak with his latest win dating back to February of last year where he defeated Kyle McGrough by way of rear naked choke in the first round at 3:01.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the majority of his victories have come by way of submission setting up a trap for Alday on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Alday of Tucson, Ariz. via Hermosillo, Son., Mexico is a scrappy, battle-tested competitor whose relentless determination led him to become the first Combate world bantamweight champion in history on September 14, 2018 when he earned a majority decision over Gustavo Lopez.<\/p>\n<p>Alday also boasts victories over John \u201cSexi Mexi\u201d Castaneda and recent Combate Global fight winner Gianni \u201cKryptonita\u201d Vazquez.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the card, Dany Daniel Gonzalez (2-1) battles Martin Justiz (debut) in a featherweight battle; Ramiro Jimenez (4-0) will go toe-to-toe with Michael Rodriguez (3-1) also in a featherweight scrap; Jordan Beltran (10-6) and Jose Zarauz (21-7-1) will face off in a catchweight fight at 153 pounds and a featured women\u2019s catchweight (110 pounds) contest will have Ana Palacios (4-1-1) vs Yajaira Cunningham (2-1).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Washington state\u2019s Marcos \u201cEl Toro\u201d Lopez (5-2) has stepped up to face Combate Global\u2019s former world champion Jose \u201cPochito\u201d Alday (13-5-1).
