CRISZAIDA ADAMES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED, <\/strong><strong>INAUGURAL WORLD FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MAIN EVENT:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>JUAN PUERTA VS. DAVID DURAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW YORK \u2013 July 7, 2020<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.combateamericas.com\/\">Combate Americas<\/a> today announced four new bouts, including a women\u2019s 120-pound catchweight co-main event contest between former world championship challenger <strong>Desiree \u201cDirty Dez\u201d Yanez<\/strong> (5-2) and unbeaten <strong>Criszaida Adames<\/strong> (2-0), for the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports franchise\u2019s first closed set studio live television event in Miami, Fla. on Friday, Aug. 28.<\/p>\n<p>The event will air live on television in the U.S. in Spanish on Univision (12 a.m. ET\/11 p.m. CT) and TUDN (12 a.m. ET\/9 p.m. PT), in English on AXS TV (10 p.m. ET\/7 p.m. PT) and in Mexico on Televisa Canal 5 (11 p.m. local time).<\/p>\n<p>In the previously announced main event and inaugural Combate Americas world flyweight (125 pounds) championship bout, world-ranked star <strong>Juan \u201cLeadfeather\u201d Puerta<\/strong> (18-6) will take on three-time Combate Americas fight winner <strong>David \u201cThe Farmer of Destruction\u201d Duran <\/strong>(8-6).<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old Yanez of Waco, Texas was nearly crowned the first-ever Combate Americas female world champion in her last start on December 7, before finding herself on the losing end of a close, controversial split decision to undefeated phenom <strong>Melissa \u201cSuper Mely\u201d Martinez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the defeat, Yanez made a stunning Combate Americas promotional debut last June 21, stopping <strong>Paulina Vargas<\/strong> in the third round (1:54) by way of technical submission (ankle injury).\u00a0 The victory gave Yanez her fourth straight win.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting out of Philadelphia, Pa., the 27-year-old Adames, who was born in the Dominican Republic, will seek her third consecutive victory in La Jaula, the Combate Americas competition cage, following a second round (1:47) TKO (knee strike) of <strong>Marisol Ruelas<\/strong> on September 1, 2019, and a unanimous decision over <strong>Alma Cespedes<\/strong> on October 18, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to making her professional debut, Adames was perfect as an amateur competitor, reeling off a 4-0 record.<\/p>\n<p>In other action announced today for the August 28 card, unbeaten <strong>Elvin Espinoza<\/strong> (3-0) of Miami will square off with fellow unbeaten rising star <strong>Rudisel Mora<\/strong> (5-0-1) of Miami in a lightweight (155 pounds) contest.<\/p>\n<p>In a welterweight (170 pounds) matchup between two undefeated upstarts, <strong>Eric Alequin <\/strong>(3-0) of West Palm Beach, Fla. will take on <strong>Jorge Masvidal<\/strong> teammate <strong>Charles Decca<\/strong> (2-0) of Miami.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jomal Rodriguez<\/strong> (3-2) of Plant City, Fla. will meet <strong>Lamar Brown<\/strong> (2-1) of Miami in a 160-pound catchweight attraction.<\/p>\n<p>The live broadcasts of Combate Americas closed set studio events, additional dates for which include Friday, Sept. 11 and Friday, Sept. 25, will feature on-camera interactions with a host of different celebrities to be announced soon.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcasts will also include fan polling and voting, as well as a social media ticker on-screen that will give viewers the opportunity to see social media conversations about the event in real time.<\/p>\n<p>Combate Americas previously announced, for the closed set studio events, a series of safety measures that the company is putting into place, including its acquisition of a dedicated physician to administer COVID-19 testing of all athletes, officials and staff prior to the show and to supervise the health of all personnel on-site in Miami.<\/p>\n<p>All Los Angeles, Calif.-based Combate Americas staff will test for COVID-19 prior to departing for Miami, utilizing the free testing recently made available to the public by Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n<p>All athletes and their respective corner people as well as all Combate Americas staff and officials will undergo both COVID-19 and antibody testing in Miami, in accordance with the new Florida State Boxing Commission requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Combate Americas began the year with a world championship event that, in its midnight ET time slot, garnered 511,000 live Univision viewers and 2.2 million live Televisa Canal 5 viewers.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Combate Americas averaged over 417,000 live Univision viewers at midnight ET, and over 1.7 million live Televisa Canal 5 viewers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>COMBATE AMERICAS ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW BOUTS FOR FIRST CLOSED SET EVENT IN MIAMI ON AUGUST 28 LIVE IN THE U.S. ON UNIVISION, TUDN USA AND AXS TV;LIVE IN MEXICO ON TELEVISA CANAL 5 WOMEN\u2019S 120-POUND CATCHWEIGHT CO-MAIN EVENT ANNOUNCED TODAY:\u00a0DESIREE YANEZ VS.
